I created this gallery as an add-on to my Sailormoon manga site, Mercury*Hime's Sailormoon World. This gallery became more popular than the site itself. ^^; The reason why it's a "Restoration Gallery" is becauseI was a bit tired of browsing manga galleries that were chock full of images, but a lot of them were cut-up, butchered images and/or transparent gifs. This gallery's purpose is to show Takeuchi's art in full, no chopped up pictures. I also try to find better copies of good size and quality for looking at or making into web graphics. I know there are a few pics on here that could be of better quality, and I will keep my eye out for better copies, and of course, give credit to whoever originally had it. =)
After a while I became tired of working on SMW and the Gallery, and decided to go on hiatus. Wow, that was a long hiatus. In that time I've joined a few forums and changed my identity completely - I went from Mercury*Hime to Crazy Pocky, a name much more fitting for a psycho like me. XD I spent my time posting at forums, working on my art, meeting some new great online friends, and eventually I made a new site - pockyland. Even with my infrequent updates and shoddy HTML, pockyland grew nicely and is still expanding. I them made another site, «shadow», and added that to my site collection. Both sites are doing well.
So why come back to this site?
A new look. A lot of people like thumbnails, because as my friend put it, "People like visuals." However, the Gallery was doing quite well with just text links and descriptions. More advice came saying thumbnails were the way to go, so... why not both? I know some people have a problem with slow modems/connections while other people have cable modems that move like lightning. I could, with some elbow grease and a whole lot of concentration, cater to both.
The gallery was hosted originally on Tripod, but after a horrible screw-up on Tripod's account, I moved the gallery to Angelfire. It did well there, but the recent bandwidth limits mean lots of downtime, which is so annoying and frequent for a gallery with such full-sized images. It was time for a move. On a related note, I love FTP.
The fate of the actual Sailormoon World has been decided. I've yet to go back to geocities and take it down, but the information has been moved to an info section here.
So, here we are. All moved, redesigned, nice and shiny and ready to welcome new visitors. I hope you enjoy looking at Takeuchi's art as much as I enjoy presenting it. =)
